Twitter has expanded its geo-targeted ads to eight more countries. You can now target users located in twelve countries and country-level geo-targeting is available almost everywhere in the world. Twitter has also improved its geo-targeting feature so you can find users within more precise areas.

You can now purchase ad space on Twitter to reach out to users located in Australia, France, Indoniesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. This is a great way to reach out to an international audience and build brand awareness. You can use other criteria to select the users who will be targeted by your ads.

Twitter says that there is now a total of 12 countries who have state/region geotargeting available, and also have more than 200 countries with country level-targeting. Twitter has been offering some location targeting since late March this year, when it unveiled geo-targeting for Promoted Twitter Accounts and Tweets. But today's announcement has marked the very first time it has enables this type of Promotion Trends to state/region areas of an individual country.

Twitter has released geo-targeting in the U.K. for all of its ad goods and has partnered up with the BBC and SKY network for its first ad campaign targeted for users in the different regions of the U.K. These ads will debut on Thursday night with the new season of Glee. According to a UK blog, Twitter was directing its Promoted Tweet, Trends and Promoted Accounts to an audience of about 100 Million Twitter fans worldwide, but now UK brands are able to target their own products to consumers in their home country, which makes this a whole new way of smart and effective marketing.

This will enable Twitter to provide local support for a wider range of marketing brands to reach an audience that would appreciate the simplicity of using Twitter to engage directly with its fans.

Twitter is rumored to worth over 10-billion dollars! With many businesses using Twitter to generate buzz, share content, and drive sales to their websites. Twitter is rumored to be mostly lookie loos, as a tiny percentage of users who actively tweet. What does all of this mean? We can probably expect Twitter to continue to expand it's marketing efforts and make attempts to increase it reach. With the millennial generation being notably short on time and attention, micro-blogging services like Twitter and Instagram may become more important players in the world of online marketing.
