We have been given the mandate of spreading the gospel by God as Christians. It is our due responsibility to ensure that we let everyone know about his word of God. In our churches, we organize outreach from time to time. In this article, we will explore church outreach types that we can engage in order to spread the gospel.

Every church needs to have an outreach program. It is impossible for a church to perform all the types of outreaches available in the world. God in his wisdom blessed us with unique gifts to do well in certain ministries. We can broadly categorize the outreaches to optional and essential ministries.

The essential ministries are those that each church has to perform. There are also these that the bible states and spells out clearly that should be done. Direct evangelism is one way of ministering. The scripture says that each member of the congregation has the responsibility of telling others about Jesus.

World missions are also essential. It is not just enough to tell your neighbors and friends about Jesus, you should reach out to others far away. The Bible says that each church should reach out to people about of the local community.

The poor and the needy are always despised in our society. As Christians, we should not be among those who despise them rather we should preach to them. When Jesus was describing the kingdom of God to his followers, he told them that helping the least of their brothers is important. Not helping the needy in clothing them, given them shelter and food, could make them miss heaven. When he talked about the least of our brothers, he meant those who are needy.

Children are susceptible to a lot of damages, especially at their young age. The current generation parents are not wary of what their children do or if the go to church. This makes them as easy prey for the enemy who turn their lives into sin. Jesus said to his disciples that the children belong to heaven and that they should be allowed to go to him. We, therefore, need to minister to them.

We have just mentioned essential ministries. Out of the ones mentioned above, others have been born inclusive of prison ministry. The individual behind bars have to realize that God loves them despite their state. Most of them normally lose of hope of getting out or gaining forgiveness. We need to restore this hope in them. The military and disabled also have to hear this wonderful word. They ought to know that the mercies, grace and love of God are abundant.

The young people and youth are also vulnerable. They are easy to fall into traps the enemy has set for them. We have to be at the forefront in preventing them from happening through preaching to them. In conclusion, each and every one of us should receive Jesus in our lives in order to tell other about him. It is our mandate, and so we have no excuse.
